WHAT OUR MEMBERS ARE SAYING

Coldspring — (Granite Company), Cold Spring, MN

“Highway 23 is considered a lifeline to Coldspring’s success.  To satisfy customers, Coldspring moves over three million lbs. of stone, equipment and supplies on Highway 23 each week.  More than 400 employees that report to our corporate office daily, use Highway 23 as their primary route to work.”

Theresa Cervantez, Director of Purchasing and Logistics

Jennie-O  Willmar, MN

“Minnesota Highway 23 is a vital corridor for Jennie-O operations.  Yearly over 20,000 truckloads of live animals and finished product are shipped by the company on Highway 23.  The four-lane gaps create confusion and frustration for drivers.  Jennie-O is concerned about safety at many of the intersections along the corridor.  It supports state funding to fill the gaps on Highway 23.”

Mike Brown, Director of Supply Chain Operations

Dooley’s Petroleum  Willmar, MN

“Dooley’s Petroleum has been distributing fuels to residential, commercial and agricultural customers across the Upper Midwest for over 50 years.  The timely shipment of our products is crucial for our customers.  Our company’s future growth depends on adequate infrastructure on Highway 23. It’s time for the State of Minnesota to show its commitment to this region of the State.”

Dan Selander, Chief Operating Officer

Rambow  New London, MN

“Over 75% of Rambow’s sales of embroidery/promotional materials is shipped north on Highway 23 to customers in St. Cloud, Duluth, and other points north.  And the lionshare of our employees use Highway 23 to come to and from work.  I have no doubt that if the four-lane gaps are completed my sales and shipments will increase significantly.”

Steve Rambow, Owner

ATS Specialized Inc (Anderson Trucking Services)  St. Cloud, MN

“ATS Specialized, a motor carrier based in St. Cloud, MN, has a fleet of over 1,000 trucks and over 2,500 trailers.  The majority of the freight we haul is oversize/overweight and requires permits through the MN DOT permit office.  MN23 is a frequently-used roadway as the main direct truck route from St. Cloud to I-90.  We need corridors that safely accommodate the motoring public and the needs of large freight that service the economy.  Enhancing a truck route helps ensure and secure future economic growth.”

Joanna Jungels, Flatbed Permit Manager

Duininck  Willmar, MN

“Duininck has been supplying aggregate, asphalt and concrete materials to West Central Minnesota for over 90 years. Highway 23 has been an important corridor to our operations. Yearly we supply over 20,000 truckloads of material to our customers on Highway 23.  Lack of continuous four-lane from Willmar to Interstate 94 creates economic disadvantage to our region and increased potential for injury and loss of life that can be prevented.   It is time to make a commitment to the Highway 23 corridor.”

Jason Duininck, Business Development

Northern Radiator  Willmar, MN

“Northern Radiator receives and ships product daily on truck lines that utilize the Highway 23 corridor.  Filling the remaining gaps would mean easier and safer routes for the truck drivers that use it daily.  Having a full access 4 -lane highway that is accessible from I-94, would open up our area to more trucking companies and allow our freight options to be more competitive.  At this time, Willmar is not looked at seriously a central hub of the state because it lacks 4-lane access.  It is time for our legislature to support this vital, economic region of out-state Minnesota by supplying the funds necessary to finally bring this project to fruition."

Hope Thompson, President

Carris Health  Willmar, MN

“Carris Health was formed in January 2018 as a partnership between CentraCare Health, Rice Memorial Hospital and ACMC Health.  Our vision is to provide the highest quality health care to West Central and Southwest Minnesota through better collaboration and connectivity.  The Highway 23 corridor provides an essential pathway for thousands traveling to specialized care between Willmar and St. Cloud annually.  Offering a four-lane solution will provide a safer, more efficient route for patients and employees who travel this path to come to work and care for our communities.  Our goal is to strengthen rural health care in our region, and enhancing Highway 23 is a necessary tool for continued professional recruitment and patient care.”

Steve Gerberding, Vice President Ambulatory Care

JME Companies  Monticello, MN

“As an outstate manufacturer, efficient and safe transportation is critical to serve our markets in St. Cloud and east to the Twin Cities.  Removing the bottlenecks on Hwy 23 to the I-94 corridor would make a huge impact in these transportation concerns for us, as well as, many others in the outstate community.”

 Kelly Morrell, Vice President

Buhler Versatile USA Inc.  Willmar, MN

“Highway 23 plays a very important role in the success of our business.  Not only is it vital as a transportation shipping route, but our employees also depend on Hwy 23 for both business and personal travel.  It is important to all of us at Buhler that Hwy 23 remains a high quality route.”

Randy Pederson, Operations Manager

Centracare Health  St. Cloud, MN

“CentraCare Health is an integrated, regional health care system with over 12,000 employees serving the health care needs of over 500,000 citizens of Central Minnesota. Highway 23 is a major route through several of the communities in which we have facilities and through a major recreational area of Minnesota. We support the Highway 23 Coalition’s efforts AND encourage the state to upgrade the remaining 2-lane sections for Highway 23 between St. Cloud and Willmar to 4-lanes. We support these efforts to improve the safety of Highway 23 for our staff and patients, improve access to health care services, support economic development and improve access to the wonderful recreational amenities along the corridor.”
