MnDOT looking to improve 23/7 crossing in Clara City

Accidents at the intersection of state Highways 23 and 7 in Clara City and a desire to improve mobility on Highway 23 led the city, Chippewa County and the Highway 23 Coalition to ask MnDOT to look at ways to improve the intersection.
The Highway 23 Coalition has named Bob Byrnes as the Coalition Coordinator. As Coordinator, Byrnes will work with the Coalition Board of Directors and its members for the mission, vision and action plans of the Highway 23 Coalition.
Open house gives overview of Kandiyohi County highway changes in wye corridor

An open house hosted Wednesday by Kandiyohi County Public Works gave the public a chance to ask questions and learn more about the county's plans for realigning its highway network at the south end of the railroad bypass corridor.
An interregional group supporting expansion of Minnesota Highway 23 has had a busy year. But even after the state dedicated bonding dollars this summer to fill in gaps in the four-lane highway, the Highway 23 Coalition doesn't plan on slowing down.
Transportation meeting in Willmar highlights ongoing needs

With a number of regional highway projects — like U.S. Highway 71 north of Willmar — just finishing up, and funding approved for the state Highway 23 four-lane project between Willmar and St. Cloud, transportation officials say there's much to be thankful for.
Pipestone County and the city of Pipestone have both joined the Highway 23 Coalition that formed last year to seek state funding to make state Highway 23 a four-lane highway from Willmar to Interstate 94.
Raymond City Council to Become a Part of Highway 23 Coalition

At the regular Raymond City Council meeting on Aug. 13, the council approved a membership to the Highway 23 Coalition. With the membership, the city is in support of the organization who will continue to "fill the gaps in four-lane access" along Highway 23 that runs from Marshall to St. Cloud.
Granite Falls Council approves renewal of Hwy 23 Coalition membership

The Granite Falls City Council on Monday evening, received an update on recent Highway 23 Coalition activities from coalition representative Aaron Backman. He stated that the group had been disappointed by the state’s Corridors of Commerce project announcement in May which saw over $400 million going to four projects all within 50 miles of the Twin Cities metro area.
With momentum from its success in securing $105 million from Governor Dayton's 2018 Bonding Bill behind it, the Highway 23 Coalition is now gathering input from local communities for future construction priorities.
Even though funding has been secured to complete the final two legs of the Highway 23 four-lane between Willmar and Interstate 94, the coalition of regional businesses and government entities that fought to obtain that funding has no intention of going away.
